In January 2009, IIT Bombay admitted 11 PhD students. On February, 27, 2009, the foundation stone of IIT Bombay was laid by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Chairperson of UPA. For the 2009-10 academic year, IITH will be admitting 120 B.Tech. students, 35 M.Tech. students and 10-15 Ph.D. students.

Position & Salary Junior Research Fellow (1 Post )
Consolidated salary Rs.25000/- p.m. + HRA
Qualification B.Tech. Electronics and Communication / B.E. degree in Electronics / Electrical / Energy Engineering, with a first class. The applicant should have worked on projects in the areas of electronics design, and should have experience developing electronics prototypes. Experience in instrumentation for solar PV module measurement is desirable.
Job Profile The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will, inter alia: 
1.Participate in research on various aspects of PV modules 
2.Develop instrumentation for PV module characterization 
3.Participate in field surveys of module and power plant performance which will be conducted by NCPRE from time to time 
4.Assist in research on PV module reliability through instrumentation 
5.Undertake training of new personnel who wish to work in the laboratory 
6.Interact with and assist industries who want to perform PV measurements 
7.Prepare quarterly reports for activities in the Module Laboratories 
8.Co-ordinate with the Laboratory Manager about instrumentation status and requirements 
9.Any other technology-related activity as requested by the PIs
